The new Porsche Centre Kelowna at 888 Finns Road, just off Highway 97 on the corner of Finns and Stremel is now open. With the dealership about 98 percent complete, there is only a bit of landscaping and a few final touches to be done. The Kelowna Ogopogo Swim Club had the second largest showing at the annual Okanagan Regional Swim Meet bringing 43 racers keen to show off their skills and race amongst their peers. Special congratulations to the Division 4 girls relay team of Isabelle Cloutier, Madelaine Cloutier, Grace Sebulsky and Lauren Griffin-Levine who placed 1st in both the 200m Medley Relay and the 200m Freestyle Relay and are now headed to the Provincials. Sarah Penton is the new host for Kelowna based CBC Radio West, a B.C. Interior afternoon radio show. Sarah joins Radio West relocating from CBC Winnipeg.

The 8th Annual Charity Golf Tournament held at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club, sponsored by Wilson M. Beck Insurance raised over $$60, O00 for the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. The winning team was Bruce Walker and the Vic Van Isle Group.

Bruce retired and relocated from Calgary after 22 years in the media industry as a former newsman. until the printing press was invented in 1440, Town Criers were the primary source of news. They have since been supplanted by newspapers, radio, TV and the internet. As a modern town Crier, his role is now ceremonial, delivering any form of oral communication that first requires gaining audience attention. He wears colorful attire and rings a bell and then delivers the relevant message. He adds pageantry, colour, historical perspective and humour to help make an event extraordinary. The Kelowna Disabled Sailing Association – Okanagan Branch (DSA) is hosting the 2017 RE/MAX (Title Sponsor) Mobility Cup at the Kelowna Yacht Club September 11-15/2017 with people coming from all over North America. This National Championship Regatta has become Canada’s showcase for the development of sailing programs for people with disabilities. This is the first time the event will be held in Kelowna and Larry Clark, sponsorship chair would like to speak to anyone who might be interested in sponsoring some of the aspects of the event. DSA has been offering sailing sessions since 1993 and run programs five days per week with five sail boats and certified instructors from May to September.
